LACY MEDALLION

Some have asked for a medallion pattern using a BIG rivoli so here is one for a size 18mm rivoli. The medallion is made by first creating a bezel using the peyote stitch to hold the rivoli, and then using netting to add bicone crystals, fire-polished beads and seed beads around this rivoli base. The pattern is fully illustrated with detailed step-by-step instructions. UPDATE IN 2018: This design works great with 18mm round LunaSoft cabochons (top right medallion) instead of crystal rivolis. German LunaSoft cabs are made of lucite, which gives them an ethereal glow, and come in many different sizes and colors.

Stitch: Peyote, netting

Beads Used: Size 15/0 and 11/0 Japanese seed beads, Delica beads, 4mm bicone crystals, 3mm fire-polished beads and an 18mm rivoli (or 18mm round Lunasoft cabochon)

Approx Finished Size: About 1.5 inches wide and high

NOTE: Bead colors and coatings (and even bead types!) seem to be disappearing at a rate that I can no longer keep up with. I try to find substitutes when I can but "discontinued" seems to be the norm these days.
