CROSSWISE EARRINGS (©2019 Deborah Roberti)
Use size 11/0 Miyuki rocaille seed beads, 8/0 rocaille seed beads, 3mm fire-polished beads, 4mm beads (can be round, fire-polished or bicone beads) and Ginko beads to make these pretty earrings. The motif also makes a lovely pendant. Links to exact beads used and more colorways at the end of the page. MATERIALS Step 1: Thread your needle with about 4 feet of FireLine. Pick the one you like best.
Closed Jump Ring Step 31: To add a closed jump ring, string an 11/0 seed bead, a 3mm fire-polished bead, two 11/0 seed beads, a 4mm bead and an 11/0 seed bead. Go through the jump ring and then go back down through the 11/0 seed bead, the 4mm bead and the 11/0 seed bead that you just strung: Step 32: String an 11/0 seed bead, a 3mm fire-polished bead and an 11/0 seed bead. Go back across through the top 3mm fire-polished bead on the motif (highlighted in RED): Step 33: Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED and your jump ring: Weave back around through the outer edge of beads again, knot and cut your thread. Connect your earring to your earring finding. Open Jump Ring I love the way Linda Genaw attaches her earring findings and this is a variation of her method. Step 31: String an 11/0 seed bead, a 3mm fire-polished bead, an 11/0 seed bead, an 8/0 seed bead, an 11/0 seed bead, a 3mm fire-polished bead and an 11/0 seed bead. Go around and back across through the top 3mm fire-polished bead on the motif (highlighted in RED): Step 32: Go back around through the beads that you just added (highlighted in RED): Weave back around through the outer edge of beads again, knot and cut your thread. Step 33: Open and insert the jump ring through the 8/0 seed bead, close it and connect it to your earring finding: Cymbal Element Many of the Beadsmith Cymbal™ elements work wonderfully instead of jump rings. Step 31: String an 11/0 seed bead, a 3mm fire-polished bead and an 11/0 seed bead. Go through a Cymbal element. String an 11/0 seed bead, a 3mm fire-polished bead and an 11/0 seed bead. Go back across through the top 3mm fire-polished bead on the motif (highlighted in RED): Step 32: Go back around through the beads highlighted in RED and the Cymbal element: Weave back around through the outer edge of beads again, knot, cut your thread and attach the Cymbal to your earring finding.
